Black meets naturalness: Jana creates a feel-good place for people and cats with her Nolte Küche.

Our kitchen of the month June comes from Jana (@janas.miezwohnung), who takes her followers with her on Instagram through her daily life – primarily featuring her cats, plants and beautiful home. Jana and her partner have been living in a ground-floor apartment with a large garden for a year now and decided on a Nolte kitchen with a modern black-and-wood look. Why? They were convinced by the combination of top quality, German production, and the comfortable, minimalist design. Jana's partner planned the kitchen himself – as a passionate cook, he invested a lot of time in creating the perfect kitchen. For both of them, it was especially exciting to imagine how they would be cooking in it later on. The design featuring dark, handleless fronts combined with wooden elements fits ideally into their open room concept, while the dark glass display cabinets create a real wow effect. Jana's must-haves? Handleless, ambient lighting and the high-quality, low-maintenance fronts – the anti-fingerprint technology makes cleaning super easy, even with two white cats in the house. For her and her furry friends, the kitchen is definitely a place of well-being!

You yourself are very active on Instagram. What makes you and your account special? Who are you and what do you show there?
My name is Jana and I take my followers along into my daily life, but mostly my account revolves around our cats and plants as well as our beautiful home.

Tell us more about your home. You live in a ground-floor apartment, correct? How long have you been living there?
We have been living for one year now in the ground-floor apartment with a large garden in a quiet location and we love it.

How did it come about that you chose a Nolte kitchen in this style
Of course there were several manufacturers to choose from, however the high quality you offer as well as the fact that you produce in Germany was decisive for us. The style is something different, modern black with wood look for the cozy touch. This suits our new apartment and our furnishing style.

Did you plan your kitchen yourselves or have it planned?
My partner planned the kitchen completely by himself. He loves cooking and kitchens. So he spent hours and eventually drove back and forth between furniture stores and kitchen studios with the plans.

What did you enjoy most about planning?
Imagining standing in it and cooking.

You decided on a kitchen with dark fronts and wooden elements; what do you particularly like about it?
We love simple and black furniture as well as wood tones, so it was simply the perfect combination for us.

Open and thoughtfully planned: the kitchen flows seamlessly into the dining area – with plenty of space for everyday life and guests.

What atmosphere did you want to create in your kitchen with the combination of matte and glossy fronts?
Additionally, the dark glass display cabinets extending into the living area create another WOW effect. These are also cozily illuminated.

What's the most important function in your kitchen for you?
Being easy to keep clean is most important to me in daily life, and thanks to the anti-fingerprint fronts it works wonderfully. Here I can only recommend it to everyone and take away any fear of dark fronts. And hey, we have two white cats. And of course, the great functionality.

What were the three must-haves that absolutely had to be in your kitchen?
Handleless, ambient lighting and your high-quality fronts.

Did your kitchen need to be rather practical in everyday life, or was design the main priority?
Actually both, which fortunately we were able to implement really well.

Is interior design just as important to you as exterior appearance?
To be honest, yes. Therefore, the inner sides of the carcasses have the same structure and color as the outside.

You have two cats, how do they like your home and your kitchen?
Definitely too much. Many would probably be bothered by it, but I think I speak for the entire cat community when I say there's nothing nicer than a furry friend watching you cook with interest.

Your apartment is furnished so beautifully. Where do you get your inspiration from?
They are things you fall in love with at first sight.


Does your interior reflect your personality?
I think one can't exactly pinpoint it like that.

How do I choose the right materials?

Whether modern, classic or cosy – the selection of materials and decors is extensive. But which surface suits my style? Which combination appears harmonious and long-lasting? Here you'll find useful tips, planning ideas and plenty of inspiration to design your dream kitchen exactly to your taste.

What advantages and disadvantages do you see in an open-plan living and dining area, like yours?
Advantages: it provides a large, open togetherness, you don't always have to speak around corners or through doors and you live together. Even nicer with friends over a beer or Aperol. The single disadvantage is odors from intensive dishes. However, these pass by airing out.

We see that your furnishings are completely coordinated. How important is a harmonious overall appearance to you?
Very, as everything is open, it should be harmonious and cozy.

Which place in your home is your favorite and why?
Undoubtedly the kitchen. It's not without reason that they say "the way to the heart is through the stomach".

What are your three most important household tips?
One tip I constantly remind myself of and that definitely makes everyday life easier: "don't leave anything lying around in the first place, then you'll have less or no tidying up to do".

What does life in the kitchen mean to you?
For my partner cooking on the weekend is pure relaxation, and every time I'm looking forward again to his delicious dishes which he always prepares anew with so much love!
