Instructions Homemade Scrub from Coffee Grounds

A bowl of coffee grounds with a wooden spoon, surrounded by scattered coffee grounds.

Give your skin natural freshness and softness with this DIY body scrub. We use gentle exfoliants such as coffee grounds and oatmeal to remove dead skin cells. Follow the instructions to create your own scrub and enjoy the invigorating effect of this sustainable skin care.

Why a peeling?

We mix our own body scrub. This removes dead skin cells and makes the skin fresh and soft again – perfect for spring and summer. We use ingredients that are beneficial for the skin and are also found in the kitchen – ideally regional, organic or even as waste products. Therefore, we rely on cold-pressed organic oil, such as rapeseed oil, oats from Germany and coffee grounds. The exfoliating effect is created by the oats and coffee. Both are significantly gentler on the skin than, for example, salt and sugar, which are often used in DIY scrubs. Oats can also be sourced regionally, and coffee grounds are simply reused, as otherwise they would immediately end up in the garbage.

Recipe

Listed below are all ingredients as well as a few optional ingredients for the peeling. It can be used for the entire body or only partially for hands or feet.

Ingredients for the Peeling

  • 6 tbsp oil
  • 4 tbsp coffee grounds
  • 2 tbsp oatmeal
  • glass with 200 ml capacity; e.g. an old jam jar

Option 1

A teaspoon of honey, which has antibacterial properties, can also be added.

Option 2

For a warm marzipan scent, a few drops of plum kernel oil can be added. For a citrus scent, however, a little zest from a lemon or orange is ideal (which otherwise would end up in the trash).
