Welcome to the world of Ana Johnson (@anajohnson), an influencer who impresses not only with her diverse presence on social media, but also with her sense for style, functionality and coziness in her own home. Known for her lively insights into family life, lifestyle, beauty, fashion, travel and DIY projects, Ana takes us this time on a very special journey: the redesign of her utility room - a passion project made by Nolte Küchen.
Where did the idea to set up a utility room in your home come from?
Even in my first apartment, such a room was integrated. Since then, I know how practical it is to be able to do the housework there. However, that room wasn't beautiful, something that we aimed to change when planning our house. This is where Nolte Küchen came into play as a reliable partner. Together we planned a utility room that is very well thought-out and looks so good that it feels like a living area.
What inspired you during the design process?
During our tour of the Nolte Forum, we were able to discover the entire Nolte Küchen range and drew inspiration from it. The many different fronts and decors overwhelmed us, and we could hardly decide because the selection was so huge. In the end, these wonderful impressions shaped the final idea.
What did you focus on most during the planning?
When you think about a utility room, you usually picture a dark, cold room, often located in the basement. The new room was therefore supposed to be bright, inviting, and cozy. After all, housework cannot be avoided and should thus be done in a place where you enjoy spending time.
What were your "must-haves" that absolutely had to be included?
Enough storage space was especially important to me. When doing housework, there are many utensils that need practical storage. There must also be enough space for laundry; ideally, shoes and bedding can also be stored in the utility room. Moreover, we also plan to store our groceries here in the future. For all this, sufficient cabinets, drawers, and shelves have been installed to store everything neatly and create a uniform, aesthetic overall look.
GlossaryWhat characterizes a modern utility room?
A well-planned utility room is more than just storage space – it noticeably simplifies everyday life. With a practical work surface, an integrated sink in the trendy colour Lava, and smart laundry sorting cabinets, everything stays tidy and within easy reach. Black handles and thoughtfully planned lighting solutions add stylish accents, making the room simultaneously functional and inviting.

Which appliances should find space in your utility room?
Previously, two washing machines and two dryers were already present and needed to be integrated. Nolte recommended installing them at body height to avoid the need to bend down so frequently. A good and practical tip that makes our weekly laundry tasks easier.
What do you especially like about the entire concept?
Overall, the Nolte Team really did a great job. We communicated our wishes and the very first draft was so perfect that we adopted it exactly as it was. From brainstorming and planning to the final installation, Nolte wonderfully implemented our heartfelt project and we are absolutely thrilled!
Which details are your highlights?
I find the laundry sorting cabinets with integrated baskets very thoughtfully designed. It's simply practical to store different laundry types in separate drawers. This way, everything is immediately in the right place, and you don't need to sort everything again in front of the washing machine. Additionally, I'm impressed that special attention was paid to sophisticated details during planning. The pipes, for instance, were hidden behind a narrow cabinet, further enhancing the overall appearance of the room.
